Calculation

See how the calculation works.

At year end, Shoreline applies the rate to each person's total gross salary for the year: 5% for employees, 3% for contractors. The examples are illustrative, not a quote, and come before fees or other cost differences.

Illustrative example: a team of three employees and one contractor

3 employees × $150,000 × 5%$22,500
.
1 contractor × $100,000 × 3%$3,000
.
.
Year-end cashback$25,500

Formula: cashback = total gross salary × 5% (employees) or 3% (contractors).

  1. 1

    Payroll runs

Each payroll adds to the gross salary your cashback is calculated on.

  2. 2

    Visible instantly

Your portal shows cashback building, per person and for the team.

  3. 3

    Calculated at year end

The final amount is set on the year's total gross salary.

Three different concepts. One important distinction.

A

An underlying incentive

A government program may have its own applicant, work, documentation, and timing requirements.

B

Shoreline cashback

Your right to a payment is defined by Shoreline's agreement and program terms.

C

Your company's tax position

Receiving cashback does not by itself establish that your company receives or qualifies for a Canadian tax credit.

Eligibility

Cashback is for Canadian tech talent.

Cashback applies to employees and contractors in Canada working in one of the 39 technical roles below, in any province. Other roles, like sales, marketing or support, can still be employed through Shoreline; they just don't earn cashback.
