Employer matching
See what a match costs.
Matching is optional but one of the most effective retention levers in Canada. Pick a level, or design a custom formula, and cap it at a dollar amount or a share of salary.
Illustrative. Employer matching counts toward the employee's RRSP room.
Tiered contributions
Reward tenure with a rising match.
Increase the match as employees hit milestones. Tier by tenure, salary band, role level or any criteria you choose; Shoreline applies the tiers automatically.
Example of a tenure-based tiered match.
Contribution limits
Set annually by the Canada Revenue Agency: 18% of the employee's prior-year earned income, up to an annual maximum. Unused room carries forward indefinitely. Over-contributions of more than $2,000 carry a 1% monthly penalty on the excess.
