Why it matters
Public healthcare in Canada doesn't cover these.
Canada's universal healthcare doesn't cover dental, vision, prescriptions or paramedical services, so Canadian employees expect extended benefits as standard. A strong package is a key factor in hiring and retention.
Dental
80% of basic services, up to $1,500 a year, recall exams every 6 months.
Vision
$200 for glasses or contacts and one eye exam every 24 months.
Prescriptions
80% coverage up to $7,500 a year, with a pay-direct drug card.
Paramedical
80% coverage, $300 per practitioner a year, including psychologists and counsellors. No referral needed.
Coverage details
What the plan covers, line by line.

Family coverage
Everyone at home, at no extra cost.
Benefits extend to the employee's family at no additional cost.
- .Spouse or common-law partner
- .Dependent children under 18 years old

Who can join the plan.

Cost sharing
Pay it all, or split it with your employee.
The premium is employer-paid by default. You can also split it with the employee. The split is set up manually, at whatever ratio you agree: tell Shoreline and the employee's share is deducted from their paystub.
- .Employer-paid by default: you cover the full premium
- .Or share it: agree a split with the employee and tell Shoreline
- .Set up manually: Shoreline applies the split you choose; there's no fixed ratio
